Greetings all. My name is Erik Burling. I’m the youngest of six boys, I’m 27 years-old and live in the heart of Philadelphia. I worked as a television news anchor for three years before letting go of that path. I broke into the news business to help people. I wanted to make a difference. But the truly rewarding days became fewer and far between. The lifestyle, and the news business, in my eyes, were unsustainable for happy living.
I moved to Philadelphia with a purpose, to use my communication and reporting skills to share stories of peace, hope, inspiration, love and kindness. There is goodness going on everyday in the world. But people are having a tougher time seeing that. This is because we are constantly bombarded by negative images of violence, hate, bitterness and disagreement almost everywhere we turn. Unfortunately these stories attract more ratings for the media conglomerates, news outlets, and agenda setters of society. Because almost everything in the United States is controlled by greed and money, those media moguls are selling themselves like prostitutes to a negative agenda in an attempt to attract higher ratings, and more money. Meanwhile their agenda is dividing our country and society. I am the alternative. I am the one who wants to tell those positive stories, knowing they have the power to unite and heal.
I work on a number of different fronts. In addition to running Iceman Productions, I work as a Digital Media Specialist for Bethesda Project in Center City Philadelphia. Bethesda is a faith-based non-profit organization which provides housing and support services for the homeless. In my free time I spend a lot of time in the yoga studio (I’m an aspiring teacher), and at the golf course where I enjoy caddying and golfing.
